Week 9 : Digital Surrealism
Realism : Takes subject matters of the ordinary and common world which we call
"reality." It almost always takes a non-exotic and non-extraordinary
subject matter and theme. There is no need to think outside of the box, as
that is not "real."
Surrealism : Surrealism defies logic. Dreams and the workings of the subconscious mind
inspire surrealistic art (French for "super-realism") filled with strange
images and bizarre juxtapositions.
Digital Surrealism : cultural movement focused on type of arts to express about the artist’s idea themselves.
In this digital era surrealism is one of the top digital art styles.

Quote 1 :
The eyes are useless when the mind is blind
Design concept :
I chose this quote, because i really relate to this quote. Sometimes mind comes first and the others become useless, it sometimes happen to me too. I’m going to use a portrait of woman and then she will be blindfolded with the “blind” word.

Design Concept :
I chose this quotes because i think it relate to all of us, it’s just a sarcasm about how grow up is really hard to adapt and growing up for some people is tough. I’m going to portray it with human looking up and seeing a big plant that grow, but the plant is actually venus flying trap, it represent the “trap” word in the quotes, so if u look up u can see if we grow as big as the venus we will be trap.
Sketch :
fig 2 sketch 2 (week 7)
After some consultation with Mr. Fauzi, he told me to choose another quotes that is more positive but i can keep the "grow" concept.
Final quote :
It Is Okay to Grow Slow
I choose this quotes because it is okay to grow little by little, there’s no rush as long as you’re growing. So i want to interpret that with a little girl looking up a plant that grow bigger than her. It’s like she’s looking up because she wants to grow but she will get there someday too, so it is okay.

fig 4 (week 8)
After i sketch the idea, i began to search for place to take the photos. For
this concept, i need a green environment with trees around. I need a place that
easy to access so i take a picture at school.
fig 5 (week 9)
Then, i began to search the sunflower elements on internet. The idea is "grow"
so i decided to use a bunch of sunflower before they grow.
fig 6 the elements
First, i adjust the photo color using Hue/saturation and curves.
fig 6
Then, i add the first sunflower element
fig 9

fig 11

fig 12 reference for typography
Progress work for typography
fig 13 (week 10)
For the words, I use warp effect, and 3D tools for the "grow" word.
fig 14 (week 10)
fig 15 (week 10)
Adding thumbs up and snail for the "okay" and "slow" word
fig 16
fig 17 (week 10)
After that, i play with depth and layer, so the "it is okay" some of it will go behind the tree.
Final Outcome
